OPERATIONAL SECURITY (OPSEC) BLUEPRINT
The Ultimate Digital Privacy Checklist (2026)
Modern threat actors, corporate ad networks, and automated surveillance engines track digital footprints through dozens of interlocking vectors. Follow this battle-tested checklist to reclaim your digital sovereignty.
Phase 1: Network & DNS Hardening
- Enable DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) / DNS-over-TLS (DoT): Standard plaintext DNS queries (port 53) leak every website domain you resolve to your local Internet Service Provider. Switch to encrypted resolvers such as Cloudflare (
1.1.1.1), Quad9 (9.9.9.9), or NextDNS. - Verify WebRTC Containment: Routinely run a WebRTC Leak Test to ensure third-party scripts cannot extract internal or gateway IP interfaces.
- Use Open-Source VPN Protocols: Deprecate obsolete protocols (PPTP, L2TP). Always insist on audited WireGuard or OpenVPN AES-256 GCM implementations.
Phase 2: Authentication & Password Resilience
- Eliminate Password Reuse: Deploy an audited password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password) with zero-knowledge encryption.
- Audit Password Entropy: Ensure master passwords exceed 80 bits of Shannon entropy using our Entropy Auditor.
- Hardware 2FA Security Keys: Transition from vulnerable SMS authentication to physical FIDO2 WebAuthn security keys (e.g. YubiKey 5C).
